FAQs

What is polymer clay?
Polymer clay is a soft non-toxic artificial clay made from PVC. Polymer clay needs to be oven baked before it can be made into jewellery.

Polymer clay jewellery has become increasing popular due to makers looking to keep busy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Polymer clay is typically used by small local businesses & children, and so its environmental impact is small.

Are your products recyclable?

At ringlet stitches, we believe it is important to be transparent about the materials we use. For our packaging, we use recycled paper filling, card & cardboard boxes.

We source our wooden embroidery hoop sets from Dandelyne, an Australian business. The hoops are made of ply wood and metal bolts & chains. We use cotton or 100% silk fabric in our necklaces & pincushions. Our pincushions are stuffed with polyester hobby fill.

Our polymer clay items are made from PVC and cannot be recycled. We believe in investing in pieces that you LOVE & products that will last a lifetime. You can extend the life of your polymer clay earrings by replacing their earring hooks to ensure a second life for your jewellery.

Who is William Morris?

William Morris was a British textile designer, building conservationist and printer active during the British arts and crafts movement. Morris was passionate about traditional methods of production in a time where industrialisation and mass production was quickly becoming the status quo.

Now Morris' prints are readily reproduced as furnishings, crockery, prints and other items. One of Morris' most popular prints is the strawberry thief print that we use in our embroidery hoop necklaces. We use Liberty London fabric who now reprint Morris' original designs.
